OSCAR FASHION: And the award goes to . . .

Last night, we were glued to the small screen for the 81st Oscars. While the ceremony left us a bit confused (no movie clips plus musical numbers . . . hmmm), the fashion from the evening left no note unsung. We always review the red carpet after an event to gather together trends which we can then mix into our day to day wardrobe and below, you'll see how we take an element and let it run, rather try to reconfigure an entire look.

*Trend: elegant embellishment with beading and sequins

We've pulled an intricatedly accented cashmere capelet with beading and sequined designs, and updated it for day in a bring mint green.

* Lucien Pellat-Finet cashmere capelet. In a size small. New with tags and retailed for $4125. Priced at $1020.

**Trend: Ombre

**Zac Posen shows us the ultimate in color range design, in a peaches and cream palette, perfect for Spring.

***TREND: English garden colors--lilacs and lavenders

***Take your cues from the hues of the English moor with a lilac tye-dyed Balmain oversize tank, embellished with silver metal floral embroidery.

****TREND: Dramatic Pleating

When a little manipulation is a good thing . . . fabric that's been treated and pleated makes this cocktail dress a girl's BFF.

*TREND: Grecian Draping

*****Aphrodite would be green with envy at the beauty of this PORTS 1841 draped jade skirt.
