Yesterday . . . all my troubles seemed so far away. That's 'cuz I was yuking it up at the opening of the Vanity Fair portraiture exhibit at the LACMA! The exhibit juxtaposes the rare vintage prints of the magazine early years with works from the publication's contemporary issues in order to examine the way in which celebrity and photography have interacted over the past century. The show, which makes it's only US stop, here in town, showcases snaps from Cecil Beaton, Imogen Cuunningham, man Ray, Mary Ellen Mark, & Annie Leibowitz. And of course, it wouldn't be a Vainty Fair without Helmut Newton.
