Chanel Cream Boucle Jacket with Pearl Trim

If we had a nickel for every croquet party we were invited to . . . well, we wouldn't even have a nickel. But, after watching Heathers for the 57th time, we've decided to bring back the game and harken to those days of yore, when brandishing a mallet had an upper-crust connotation. And for our crocquet ensemble, nothing less than this Chanel boucle jacket will do. Crafted from a cream colored boucle, this jacket features pearl trim and hook-and-eye front closures. In mint condition--the original composition/season/size tag is missing--approximately a size 38. Available at d2 for $750. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com SOLD

Chanel Spring 2004 Jacket Tank Set

Ok Karl, forgive us--we should have known better than to profile another designer's boutique with out showing yours first. Pardonnez-nous, s'il vous plait! Allow us to amend our mistake. Instead of choosing the obvious Place Vendome boutique to showcase, we've picked a pic from the Hong Kong outpost. And frankly, while we can't imagine anything better than shopping at any Chanel boutique, wearing this Spring 2004 jacket/tank set comprised of an intricately gathered spandex/poly blend, will just have to suffice in the meantime. New With Tags, Never worn and in a size 40. Available at decadestwo for $750. For futher information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Chanel Fall 2003 Sweater

Ok, so who doesn't just love Dorothy Hamill? C'mon--you remember: the bob, the Hamill Camel, the '76 Olympics? When we were little tots, we used to imagine we were on the road with Hamill and the Ice Capades gang. We've been a friend of Dorothy ever since we can remember. And this Chanel sweater is just the type of piece we'd don while gliding across the ice (the Chanel Capades?) Crafted using a white mohair blend, this Fall 2003 sweater, is the living end of winter wonderland chic! New With Tags, Originally Retailed for $1065 and available at D2 for $500. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Marni Fur Coat with Wrap Belt

Oh Consuelo, you've gone and done it again. Given us the perfect darling piece for Fall/Winter 08 that appeals to our boho soul without catering to the hacky-sacking, Dead-following, dreadlocked style so often associated with the hippie set. Crafted in a patchwork muskrat fur, this chic coat also sports a cotton front wrap at the waist. In mint condition and in a size 38. Available at d2 for $2950. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Stella McCartney Spring 2007 Dress

We noticed that in the past, when we've touted the paricular genius of a designer on our blog, that the designer in question is usually male: Osacr, Tom, Karl, Gilles, Alber . . . except we did get to refernce one of our all time faves Mary McFadden--see below. And while we're still a fan of the boys, we'd also like to celbrate what the girls can do. So we'd to take our hats off, shake our hair loose and celebrate in the sisterhood of Stella McCartney with this Spring 2007 dress. Crafted in a pearl printed silk, this ruffle dress says "get your Fun In the Sun before it's Fall and you'll be stuffing your legs into cashmere cable stockings and wishing you were at the beach." Which we do now. Size 38 New With Tags, Retailed for $7495 and priced at d2 for $2000. For further information or to purchase, please contact:thegang@decadestwo.com

J. Mendel Metallic Boucle Blazer with Fur Collar

We love love love the name Gilles. Love. So sophisticated and glamourous yet old world and upper crust. Delish.

If we took a lover, we'd call him Gilles (even if his name were Fred).

If we were in a band, we'd call it "Gilles".

If we were a F to M tranny, we's be reborn as Gilles.

Ok, maybe that took it a bit toooooooo far. But this J. Mendel jacket designed by Gilles Mendel, has just the right mix of pomp & circumstance. Crafted in a metallic boucle, this jazzy jacket sports beaded tie at the neck, fur collar and wrap-tie at the waist. In mint condition and in a approx. size 4. Priced at $2000. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Louis Vuitton Platform Pompei Heels

Ah . . . the platform shoe. From it's humble beginnings in ancient grecian theatre, when they were used to denote important characters on stage, to its racy adolescence in the 16th to 18th century's when high born European courtesan's relied upon the platform to avoid gunk in the gutters, to its young adulthood in the 1970's, when they were a staple of any righteous gal's clothing collection. We still love 'em in the 21st century. Especially when they are made by Louis Vuitton in a rust colored satin with dark golden metal trim and orange laquered wedge. In a size 37.5 and orignally retailed for approximately $845 US. Available at d2 for $395-worn very gently once. SOLD

Hermes 2003 Orange Herbag

It's no wonder that a certain hevaenly handbag company chose to name itself after our favorite winged messenger of th gods, Hermes--especially when you consider that a staple of the earth-to-underworld traveler's wardrobe was in fact the purse or pouch. Here's one of our celestial handbag pics that we're sure Hermes himself would have wanted to carry: the Herbag. A collector's item that is no longer manufactured, this heavenly handbag is crafted in a signature Hermes orange with reversable red canvas in 2 DIY interchangeable styles--one pouch is a medium size and the other is a large size (we've shown the large). The handbag is showcases thick and supple chocolate leather trim, golden metal closure, lock & keys, key fob and pochette, handle & shoulder strap, original dustbag and G time stamp (dating the bag to the year 2003). Available from Decadestwo for $2400. In mint condition. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Lanvin Winter 2004 Dress w Floral Details

We sometimes wonder if Tom Ford doesn't kick himself a teensy weensy bit for dismissing Alber Elbaz from the head design post at YSL, when the Gucci group bought the house in 1999. How can you just not love Alber? And let me just say for the record, I love a man in a ginormous purple bow-tie. Oh well, it's all worked out for Elbaz, the Israeli citizen from humble beginnings in North Africa, now that he's the head of fashion's oldest extant house, Lanvin. In fact, Elbaz appears on Time magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the WORLD in 2007. Probably for displaying the type of design genius that we see in this Winter 2004 draping masterpiece. Comprised of a black signature Elbaz silk charmeuse, this apron dress is crafted using one piece of fabric with one seam. Simplicity at its most elegant and refined. Accented with antiqued gemstones, floral silk details, raw edging and cream colored apron beneath the overlay, this dress is the living end of chic. In a size 36, New With Tags and originally retailed for $2120. A steal at d2 for $1000. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Yves Saint Laurent Tweed Blazer

Tweed--not just a river in Scotland . . . Tweed is also a rugged & nubbly fabric woven from various woolen twills. And one of our all time fave choices for coats and suiting (see LV Coat below). Like this YSL tweed jacket. Accented with black quilted gauzey edging and zipper teeth trim, this wrap jacket with DIY belt tie just screams ole school chic. You know, cucumber sandwiches with the crust cut off. We just love 'em. In a size 34 and priced at $800. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Louis Vuitton Tweed Schoolgirl Coat

OMG, the LV store on the Champs Elysee: is there anything more french, more fabulous, more decadent . . . we think non (forgive us Karl). I can't think of anything better on a blustery fall day then browsing the LV racks before skipping along to La Duree for some macarons & cafe au lait. For those of us who can't just hop on a plane to Paris and speed up time so that it's October instead of August, you canstill capture the feeling with this LV coat. Crafted with wool charcoal/black tweed and accented with plush blue velvet collar and rear detailing, this coat will wrap you in the essence of Automne. And come October, it will be the only thing you want to slide around your shoulders for warmth. Available for $1200 and in a size 38.

Rick Owens White Leather Coat

Ok--so I went to my first Rock Concert in the fifth grade. I told my mom we were going to see Billy Joel, but really we went to see Billy Idol. His one pair of leather pants and black eyeliner made me weak in the knees since Generation X. I took one look at my vital Idol and I knew . . . even at the tender age of ten, that we were destined to be together. And so I've been saving myself ever since (er) for Billy. While all my friends are now dreaming of setlling down with CPA's and doctors, I'm still waiting for that white wedding with Idol. And instead of some cupcake nonsense farchactat dress, I'd wear this white leather Rick Owens jacket with ribbed collar, wrap styling. Mad Max inspiration and belted waist closure. New With Tags & Retailed for $2935. In a size 40 and priced at $1300. Take just one look and you'll want more, more, more. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Chanel Fall 1996 Lambswool Shearling Coat

Put Chanel and shearling together and you get Chanearling! Or just Chearling. ha. Seriously though, all gals need a shearling and all gals need Chanel. Which, basically is why you need this Chearling. Or Chanearling. Oh, I'm getting lost in my own witty repartee. Anyhoo, this baby is crafted with a lambswool shearling with a zip front closure and puff shearling trim. From the Fall 1996 collection, in a size 38 and priced at $1850. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Dolce & Gabbana Mink Lined Coat

White wool schoolgirl-meets-sophiticato style coat?
Fabulous.
Super warm, super soft, super luxe mink lining?

Belted cinch at the waist?

In a size 42 and available for $2500?
Fabulous.
See--it stands the tests of time and fabulousness.

Monique Lhuillier Spring 2007 Dress

If Eloise were allgrownzup and still lived at the Plaza . . . but with say, Pete Doherty instead of Nana, we think she'd wear this to go crawling around the ballroom turrets. Of course, Weenie & Skiperdee are still tucked safely into her pocketbook. Next to the $20 bill to send Doherty home in case he gets fresh . . . Crafted by Monique Lhuillier for her Spring 2007 collection, this dress showcases a silk mesh overlay, pleated & gathered detailing, and shiny gem & bauble belt. New With Tags & Retailed for $3390. In a size 4 and available at d2 for 1200. We also have it in a size 2. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Lanvin Spring 2007 Jacket

We're not quite sure how we feel about this whole electro clash, post punk, too jaded for even the Chelsea hotel, everyone-slept-with-the-New York Dolls-and-watched-television-with Richard Hell retro-momento. First we'd like to know who to blame. So, if you have to sport the look--our real question is this. Why, oh, why, in the name of all things holy, would you go back to members only . . . . . . when you could sport this little Lanvin number? I mean really. If you're going to do the bomber meets windbreaker jacket, then this is CLEARLY the only acceptable one. Crafted with a tan silk, this Spring 2007 jacket also features a gemstone encrusted collar. Originally Retailed for $2750 and is available at D2 for $1200. For further information or to purchase, please contact: thegang@decadestwo.com

Lanvin Spring 2005 Pleated Silk Dress

Let's follow the history of the pleat, shall we? Come along on a trip through sound, time, and fabric. A Pleat: a type of fold formed by doubling fabric back on itself and the pressing the fold or securing the crease in place. Pleated garments have had a rich history--noted for their abilily to combine luxury with practicality for a pleated garment does not "crinkle" or ruin during travel.

At the turn of the contury, it was Mariano "Master Pleat" Fortuny who was the consumate pleater--reknowned for his diaphonous greco-roman inspired pleated gowns. Fortuny has served as the inspiration for many contemporary avant-garde contemporary designers who manufacture collections that promote technological fabric maniupaltions, most specifically Issey Miyake, who by 1999 had turned over all design responsibilities to Naoki Takizawa to focus entirely on research. In fact, Fortuny's pleating processes are still secret and not fully understood to this day (Below we have Mrs. Conde Nast in one of Fortuny's famous tea gowns). In the seventies and eighties, pleating was picked up by Mary McFadden, who used the travel-worthy pleating to win over her wealthy jet-setty clientele. McFadden updated Fortuny's luxurious pleated draping with quilting, macrame, grosgrain binding and metallic lame'. McFadden herself was one of the orginal 54 glammazons and we hear is engaged (for the 12th time--take that Elizabeth Taylor!)

No stranger to re-interpretation, below is Alber Elbaz's take on the pleat. From the Spring 2005 collection, this saucy black silk pleated number retains the integrity of Fortuny's neo-classical lines but is modernized with brass grommets, dusty rose satin ribbon rear closure, and signature Lanvin. In a size 38 and available for $1000. It's as if Ms. Conde Nast came back to life, want dancing at the disco, fell down the stairs, got up, grabbed a cocktail, took a walk through the old MOMA garden's with the Picasso sculptures, and kissed a movie star under the Water Lillies. Hey, stranger things . . .
